George Santos was expelled from Congress partially for using campaign funds for his own benefit. The story explains that there is very little enforcement in general on the spending side of campaign finance and that there is an increasing trend to funnel campaign spending through private corporations that may easily divert money to friends and family members or to the candidate him or herself.
