Federal court finds Michigan districts are unconstitutionally gerrymandered

Both Congressional and state legislative districts are involved. “…the impact of the ruling ultimately will turn on an opinion by the Supreme Court, which is weighing decisions in two other partisan gerrymander cases involving congressional districts in North Carolina and Maryland.”

Major gaps in federal online disclosure laws

https://truthout.org/articles/mueller-report-exposes-campaign-finance-problems-far-beyond-russia/

in 2018, digital political spending hit $1.8 billion, or 20 percent of total ad spending — an astonishing 2,400 percent increase as compared to the 2014 midterms….”

Independent spenders do not have to include disclosure information for online ads in instances where they would have to do so if the ad were broadcast on TV or radio. This gap has been closed in Maryland thanks to Get Money Out, other reform groups, and a willing Democratic leadership in the legislature.
