Leonard Leo helped Trump aide financially while Supreme Court nomination was pending


Right-wing judicial activist Leonard facilitated a deal whereby Trump advisor Kellyanne Conway sold her company to Creative Response Concepts while she was involved in picking a nominee for the Supreme Court.

"It appears Leo, via one of his dark money groups, helped finance the transaction between the firm, Creative Response Concepts Inc., and Conway — worth between $1 million and $5 million, according to experts citing the timing of the transactions filed through the same attorney and bank. At the time, CRC was also bringing in millions of dollars from dark money groups to promote Leo's picks. "

Amid record spending for midterms, dark money & billionaire money soar


State and local elections cost $16.7 billion, but dark money would make that figure higher if it could all be counted. Portland, ME, and Oakland, CA passed public financing ballot measures, and Arizona passed a disclosure measure. All 3 measure passed by at least 65%.

Republicans ISL theory could backfire


The author explains that Republicans have already exploited partisan gerrymandering to a greater extent than states with Democratic-dominated legislatures. California's commission could be thrown out,  yielding several new Democratic seats. Maryland's court decision could yield an even more Democratic-leaning map. His survey indicates a gain of up to 15 seats for Democrats.
