Leonard Leo closed nonprofit days after news media started investigating

Leo is the main operator behind right-wing attempts to influence the Supreme Court and the appointment of justices. He operates mostly with dark money. Leo bought a business from Trump advisor Kellyanne Conway just as she was advising Trump on whom to appoint to the Court. When Politico began investigating the purchase, he shut down the nonprofit firm that may have been involved in the transaction.

Bill in House of Representatives would clarify 501(c) rules for dark money

"Crow's new iteration of the bill would free the IRS to clarify its rules about how much political activity 501(c) nonprofits can engage in, though the proposal comes shortly after the House passed a bill stripping the IRS of about $71 billion of its newly-allocated funding and as congressional Republicans push another bill to abolish the IRS entirely. Such measures would require approval of the Senate, which is controlled by Democrats"

This article also gives a summary of 501(c) spending.
